Mr. William Youman “W.Y.” Jackson, 89, of Hope, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Christus St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Jackson was born on Nov. 22, 1 920, in Stamps, to C.M. and Ruth Jackson. He lived in Hope. He was an active member of Hinton United Methodist Church in Patmos. Mr. Jackson was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a dairy farmer in Patmos until f1968 and then was a cattle foreman for Harold Bobo in Hope until his retirement.
His survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Lou Etta Jackson of Hope; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Carolyn Jackson of Patmos and Richard and Jane Jackson of Hope; four daughters-in-law, Mary Beth and Carl Murry of Emmet, Sandra and Les Patterson of Hope, Daris C. and Mickey Patrick of Perrytown and Robbie and Mike Goodner of Texarkana; four sisters, Helen Ray of Jacksonville, Texas, Corine Odell of Hope, Ruth and C.W. Lewis of Buckner and Hazel and Ed Waddell of Sherwood; one brother, Robert Jackson of El Dorado; fifteen grandchildren, Carol Martin, Stacy Bright, Dana Elliott, Bill Jackson, Greg Jackson, Lisa Adams, Julie Spencer, Audrey Wilson, Clint Murry, Rick Murry, Andy Patrick, Jeremy Dillard, Kimberlee Goodner, David Patterson and Amanda Patterson; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 31, at Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home of Hope.
The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, in St. John’s United Methodist Church in Hope, with Revs. Byron Mann and Joe Miller officiating, interment was in Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps, under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home.
