Mr. Hollis “Dick” Stewart, 94, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, in John McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1915, near Laneburg, to Lewis and Ella Waddle Stewart. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Prescott, former Administrative Board Chairman and served on various committees over the years; member of Laneburg Masonic Lodge, former Nevada County Treasurer; former president of Rotary Club; 50 year member of American Legion; and Air Force Veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers; one sister and a son, Bill McDougald.
His survivors include his wife of 62 years, Emma Gene Barnes Stewart of Prescott; one son, Gary Stewart and Susie of Little Rock; one daughter, Mary Kate Dillon and Len of Bassett, La.; four grandchildren, Laura Stewart Edwards and Jimmy and Lisa Stewart Zachary and Preston, all of Little Rock and Caitlin and Molly Dillon of Bassett, Va. and three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Grant and Preston Edwards of Little Rock.
The funeral service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Carlton Cross, his great-nephew, officiating. The burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Rosston. The arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
The family received friends Friday, Jan. 15, from 5-7 p.m., at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
