Mary Ann Stewart, 74, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Mrs. Stewart was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Missouri Township, Nevada County, to William Hobert Smith and Maida Rhodes Smith.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Stewart, her parents, and her brother George R. Smith.

Survivors include three sons and their families, Vic  and Melanie Stewart of Houston, Rick  Stewart of Farmerville, La. and Marc and Lauron Stewart of Friendswood, Texas; sisters, Margaret and husband Lamar Barham of Cale, Norma and husband Jim Harris of Kansas City, Mo., Judy and husband Doug Cook of Pearland, Texas; brother, James Richard and wife Hannah June Smith of Texarkana; grandchildren, Robert Kelso Stewart II and wife Kelley of The Woodlands, Texas, Thomas Lyon and Jason Lyon of Waco, Texas, Joseph  Stewart and Lydia Jane Stewart of Houston, Madeline McCulloch and Sarah Claire Stewart of Friendswood; great-grandchildren, Kelso Guy Stewart, Morgan, Madison and Macy Messina of The Woodlands, and Olivia, Valerie and Natalie Lyon of Houston.

 Mary Ann was a devoted wife and mother, making a home on the road for her husband and sons as Ralph built pipelines across the country. Mary Ann and Ralph settled in Alvin, Texas in 1979 and moved to Prescott in 1993 where they enjoyed re-acquaintance with old friends and grew closer to family.

Family received friends on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m.-l p.m. in Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, in Brazzel-Cornish The Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott. Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland will be officiating the service. Burial to follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Rosston, by Brazzel-Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Cemetery Association (c/o Janie Franklin, 812 Mt. Moriah Road , Rosston , Arkansas 71858).
