The Emmet Vision Association has set the annual Emmet Christmas Night of Lights parade for Dec. 12. The Saturday event is the 16th annual parade and the association is looking for people interested in being involved.

The parade route is two miles and begins at the Emmet School at 6 p.m., according to information from organizers. Those who want to participate are asked to be at the school no later than 5:30 p.m. for lineup instructions.

Organizer Anita Wicker said there is always a variety of participants, ranging from floats to four-wheelers to children walking their pets.

Organizers say the parade will end at the Emmet Chuck Wagon, located on First Street by the old bowling alley. Santa Claus will be on hand to take wish lists and refreshments will be served at the end of the parade.

The parade has become a tradition in Emmet.

“It gets bigger and better every year,” Wicker said.

However, Wicker said the feel of the parade is all about community spirit.

The parade route will include many streets in the downtown area neighborhoods. Advance entry forms are available at the school or at the Eagles Nest but there is no requirement for advance sign up.

For information, contact Jewel Allen at 887-3285, Wicker at 903-244-0155, or emmetparade@yahoo.com
