The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2009 Citizen of the Year.
According to Brandy Jones, director of the chamber of commerce, any resident of Nevada County may submit a recommendation for citizen of the year. The recipient must be a resident of Nevada County or have their business located in Nevada County.
Jones said anyone who wants to nominate a person for citizen of the year should submit the name of the person, in writing, to the chamber. In addition, nominations should include the reason that person should be selected.
Jones said nominations must be received by Jan. 29 in order to be considered. A committee established for this purpose will then convene to evaluate nominations. According to Jones, the committee considers “outstanding service to family, city, county, state and national affairs” as well as dedication to church, fraternal recreation, industrial and education-oriented services.
The 2009 citizen of the year will be announced at the annual Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
“It’s a very prestigious honor,” Jones said.
As a rule, the person selected will not be informed of the selection until the night of the banquet.
Send written nomination forms to Citizen of the Year, c/o Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 307, Prescott, AR 71857, or drop it off at the chamber office, 116 E. Second St., Prescott.
