As has been typical for the 2009 football season, the Prescott Curley Wolves were a little slow getting started but once the team established a rhythm, the game was all but in the bag and the final score ended with another win for Prescott, 43-0.
Prescott’s first possession against the Fouke Panthers ended with a heartbreaking turnover on downs just inside the 10-yard line. The fact that the Panthers could do no better reassured the fans and Prescott took over again with less than five minutes on the clock. It looked like the Wolves were going to be shut down again, prompting the Wolves to take the opportunity for the three and Prescott took the lead, 3-0.
The kick put the Panthers at the Wolves’ 30-yard line, but the Wolves took away every opportunity to advance. The Wolves took control again at mid-field but a penalty pushed them back to a first down and 25.
It was about this time that the Wolves found their game and quarterback C.J. Smith connected with James Colbert. It looked like Colbert would make the first touchdown of the game but he was stopped after about a 65-yard run to the five-yard line, easy position for the touchdown and a 10-point lead.
In the second quarter, the Wolves weren’t nearly so forgiving and with less than two minutes gone on the clock, the Wolves had scored again, making it 17-0 and the Wolves continued to score, eventually taking the score to 43-0.
