A Rosston man has been charged with sexual assault after having allegedly tried to break into a pickup at a local truck stop.
William Douglan Green, 30, 6331 Highway 278, Rosston, was charged in Nevada County Circuit Court.
According to court records on file, Prescott Police Department Detective David Thomason was called to a local truck stop for a report of a man breaking into a vehicle. According to the report, the witnesses had gone outside the building and discovered a man, later identified as Green, leaning into the truck of one of the witnesses. Confronted, Green said he’d thought the truck belonged to his brother, according to the report.
Witnesses at the scene told Thomason that the man seen breaking into the vehicle had left. Witnesses also gave Thomason the license plate number of the vehicle driven by the man. The vehicle was later spotted by Nevada County Sheriff Danny Martin, according to the report. Martin, PPD Chief of Police Brian Russell and Arkansas State Trooper Chris Harper took Green into custody, according to the report.
According to the report, the man was identified by the owner of the truck and Harper learned that there were “several charges” pending against Green.
The court case on file indicates that Green is charged with sexual assault. The records of that particular case were sealed on July 27.
Sexual assault is a felony with a possible penalty of five to 20 years in prison, a fine not more than $15,000, or both.
