The Emmet School campuses will likely be closing at the end of the current school year.

Though Blevins School District Superintendent Randy Treat told patrons, teachers and students that he has not made an official recommendation to the school board, Treat said he sees no alternative.

“I predict it will be in for the 2009-2010 school year,” Treat said when pressed for a clear-cut answer to patrons’ questions.

Treat began the meeting Tuesday night at the Emmet gymnasium by saying that the purpose of the public meeting was to address rumors. He said he’d presented the same information at the Blevins campus last week.

The meeting lasted more than an hour with some 200 people present though some began to trickle out after the first hour.

For more details, see the Sept. 10 edition of the Hope Star and the Sept. 16 edition of the Nevada County Picayune.
