This Saturday June 16, the All Arkansas Preps 2017-18 Awards Banquet will be honoring over 300 athletes from the Natural State and Prescott's Kobe Gillard was selected as one of the honorees invited to be apart of the occasion.

This Saturday June 16, the All Arkansas Preps 2017-18 Awards Banquet will be honoring over 300 athletes from the Natural State and Prescott's Kobe Gillard was selected as one of the honorees invited to be apart of the occasion. Gillard was named to the All Arkansas Football Second Offense Team for 2017-18. He will be amongst several members from all sports chosen to first, second or sophomore teams to be present as featured athletes of the year.
The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Wally Allen Ballroom in the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.
Out of each sport, a male and female athlete will be selected to receive the honor of Outstanding Player of the Year. In addition, an Overall Male Athlete, Overall Female Athlete and Coach of the Year will be chosen and honored at the event. The All Arkansas Preps event, which is also sponsored by First Security Bank, Arkansas Select Buick GMC Dealers and SportsClips will be a first-class experience for the 1,200 who attend.
The event will feature a keynote speaker to address all athletes of their accomplishments and the passionate purpose to compete as an productive athlete. This year's keynote speaker will be former Legendary Track & Field Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee. She is considerably one of the most decorated female athletes of all-time, Jackie dominated the track and field circuit for 16 years and won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals spanning four Olympic Games during her illustrious career.
All Arkansas Preps celebrates high school athletes from across the state and their achievements in 12 sports (basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, cross country, soccer, football, tennis, golf, volleyball, wrestling and swimming/diving. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s All Arkansas Preps male and female athlete and coach of the year will be announced at a banquet honoring high school athletes and their accomplishments this weekend in Little Rock.
This past 2017 football season, Gillard, 6-1 305 lb DT/G as junior helped the Prescott Curley Wolves to a 11-2 overall record finish and 6-1 in conference play. The Curley Wolves held the No. 1 overall ranking for seven consecutive weeks in the state for Class 3A (Associated Press Arkansas Prep Poll, Hooten's Arkansas Football Class 3A rankings, Arkansas Democrat Prep Poll and Max Prep Poll Rankings).
Prescott was ranked as one of five top teams in the entire state for Class 3A heading into the postseason by all three polls.
2017-18 All Arkansas Prep Football Second Team Offense consist of - Mason Schucker of Searcy; Drew Winn of Pea Ridge; Hishmma Taylor of Junction City; Trey Harris of Little Rock Christian; Kris Mulinga of Fayetteville; Eli Nevels of Searcy; Kobe Gillard of Prescott; Allen Amuimuia of Pulaski Academy ; Michael Toney of Bentonville West; Blaise Smith of Bryant and Larry Clark of Blytheville.
The Outstanding Football Player of the Year is Layne Hatcher of Pulaski Academy.
