Prescott Curley Wolves baseball team finished the season in postseason action at the Class 3A State Tournament with four members earning seasonal accolades for their outstanding play on the diamond for 2018. Diamond Wolves' Hank Crain, Peyton Chandler, Timothy "Timmy" Hopkins and Cade Haynie all received postseason honors for the 2018 baseball season.
Crain, Hopkins and Chandler were named All-Conference and Haynie was selected to the All-State Tournament Team.
The Wolves finished their season 10-18-1 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
The Wolves picked up key victories against Centerpoint, Warren, Mena, Cossatot River, Arkadelphia and knocked off the No. 1 seed Junction City in regionals to qualify to compete in the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament.
This season at bat, Chandler recorded 20 hits with three doubles, two triples, one home run and 18 RBI's and scored 28 runs. Chandler had 10 stolen bases on the year at the mound pitched 23 innings and struck out 15 batters and threw 446 pitches.
Crain led the team with the most hits at bat. He collected 25 hits with two triples, one double and 12 RBI's. Crain scored 20 runs and had 11 stolen bases.
Hopkins collected five hits with three RBI's and scored 12 runs. At the mound, Hopkins pitched the most innings with 65 and struck out 40 batters and threw 1, 092 pitches for the season.
Haynie collected 22 hits with two doubles, 16 RBI's and a home run and scored four runs.
Prescott baseball head coach Gavan McCauley guided the Wolves through a challenging year on the diamond, but pleased by the success the team provided throughout the season home and on the road.
McCauley looks forward to next year and wishes the seniors well for their future and return strong for another year of Curley Wolf baseball for 2019.
