Prescott Curley Wolves made their arrival for postseason competition on the diamond in the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament in Smackover to fall in the opening round to Glen Rose 15-1 which ended their hard fought season for 2018.

Prescott Curley Wolves made their arrival for postseason competition on the diamond in the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament in Smackover to fall in the opening round to Glen Rose 15-1 which ended their hard fought season for 2018. The Wolves earned the No. 4 seed at state by finishing the 2A Regional Tournament fourth hosted in Horatio leading up to the state baseball tourney.
The Wolves finish their season 10-18-1 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
Prescott baseball head coach Gavan McCauley guided the Wolves through a challenging year on the diamond, but pleased by the success the team provided throughout the season home and on the road.
The Wolves picked up key victories against Centerpoint, Warren, Mena, Cossatot River, Arkadelphia and knocked off the No. 1 seed Junction City in regionals to qualify to compete in the Class 3A State Baseball Tournament.

Semifinals
CURLEY WOLVES 4, GENOA CENTRAL 6
Prescott Curley Wolves kept a close and competitive battle against the Genoa Central Dragons that displayed a scoreless affair through the second inning. The Dragons sparked first with a run in the third inning, then scoring two runs in the fourth inning to lead Prescott 3-0. In the fifth, the Dragons drove five runs in with the Curley Wolves ending their scoring drought with a run scored to trail Genoa Central 6-1.
The Wolves begin rallying with a run scored in the sixth and two in the seven inning, but just came up a couple of runs short to tie the game and send into extra innings for the two-run loss. For the game, the Wolves collected four runs on five hits. Peyton Chandler had a hit, Timmy Hopkins scored a run, Trey Rucker had a hit and scored a run, Hank Crain had a hit and drove in two runs for two RBI's, Riley Robbins scored a run, homered for a hit and an RBI and Bailey Adams scored a run with a hit.
Rucker collected on stolen base for the Wolves. At the mound, Eric Wingfield pitched 4.1 innings, allowed eight hits, six runs, two walks and struck out three batters. Chandler finished out pitching 1.1 innings, allowed no hits, runs and walked one batter.

Third-Fourth Place Game
CURLEY WOLVES 9, FOUKE 12
The Wolves finished their regional tournament play in another hard fought battle falling short to Fouke, 12-9 in seven innings of baseball competition. The Wolves recorded runs in the first with two scored, one run in the second, four runs in the fourth and two runs scored in the sixth inning. The Panthers sparked for five runs in the first inning and recording a big scoring inning in the sixth with seven runs. Defensively, the Wolves held Fouke scoreless in the second, third, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
For the game, the Wolves collected nine runs on 11 hits. Thomas Muldrow scored a run with a hit, Chandler scored three runs with two hits and one RBI. Brody Pennington had one hit, Rucker scored a run with two hits, Cade Haynie had one hit and two RBI's, Crain scored two runs with two hits and one RBI, Robbins had a hit and two RBI's and Adams scored two runs with a hit and an RBI.
Rucker collected the Wolves lone stolen base.
At the mound, Hopkins pitched five innings, allowed nine hits, five runs four earned, two walks and struck out one batter. Robbins pitched one inning, allowed one hit and one run none earned.

CLASS 3A STATE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT IN SMACKOVER
First Round
CURLEY WOLVES 1, GLEN ROSE 15
In the postseason debut battle on the diamond, the Wolves would suffer a tough opening round defeat to the Glen Rose Beavers 15-1 at the Class 3A state baseball tournament hosted in Smackover. The Wolves was only allowed to collect one run in their match-up coming in the third inning. The Beavers scored one in the first inning, three runs in the second and drove 10 runs in the third inning and one in the fourth inning to end the contest in the fifth inning.
For the game, Prescott recorded one run on three hits with Chandler scoring the lone team run with a hit and Haynie and Crain collecting a hit apiece. Haynie drove in the run for the only RBI.
Rucker collected a stolen base for the Wolves.
At the mound, Hopkins pitched two innings, allowed nine hits eight runs six earned, one walk and struck out one batter. Muldrow pitched allowed one hit and a walk striking out one batter. Winfield pitched 1.1 inning, allowed two hits, two runs one earned and walked one batter. Chandler pitched, allowed two hits, five runs five earned and walked one batter.
