The Prescott Curley Wolves kept their contests on the diamond last week close, but in the end would fall in defeat to the reigning Class 4A State Champs Nashville Scrappers 6-2 and at home to the Horatio Lions 8-4.

The Curley Wolves battled two impressive baseball programs last week and enter into this week hosting Ashdown in double-header, on the road at Cossatot River and back home Friday facing Mena.

CURLEY WOLVES 2, NASHVILLE 6
The Curley Wolves visited championship territory looking to take down the reigning Class 4A state baseball champions Nashville Scrappers in their 3A/4A Conference bout on the diamond. The Curley Wolves had a 3-0 run deficit through the third inning. In the fourth, the Curley Wolves sparked for a run scored and held Nashville scoreless in the inning, but trailed the Scrappers 3-1.
In the fifth, the Curley Wolves sparked for their last run scored of the game with Nashville accounting three runs scored to take the 6-2 lead, which resulted the final score of the game.
Neither team scored in the sixth and seventh innings as the Scrappers held off Prescott in the top of the seventh to exclude the bottom of  the seventh for play. At the plate, Prescott's Trey Rucker, Eric Wingfield and Brody Pennington each had a hit apiece. Peyton Chandler drove in one run for the lone RBI. Winfield and Rucker each scored a run apiece and Chandler had a stolen base for the Wolves.
At the mound, Thomas Muldrow pitched 4.2 innings, allowed six hits, six runs, four earned, walked six batter and struck out three batters. Timmy Hopkins pitched 1.1 innings, allowed one hit and struck out one batter.

CURLEY WOLVES 4, HORATIO 8
Returning home for baseball action at the James Johnson Sports Complex, the Prescott Curley Wolves welcomed a good Horatio Lions team to their territory on diamond. The Curley Wolves rallied back after a four-run lead spark by Horatio in the second inning off a grand slam with Prescott scoring a run in the third and fourth innings and two runs in the fifth inning. Horatio added two runs in the third and a run in the fifth and sixth innings that led to a 8-4 win over the Curley Wolves.
At the plate, the Curley Wolves collected eight hits with four runs scored. Hank Crain and Cade Haynie each led at bat with two hits apiece, Wingfield, Rucker, Kade Honea and Pennington each had a hit apiece. Pennington, Rucker and Crain each drove in one run apiece for an RBI apiece. Chandler scored two runs, Rucker and Haynie each scored a run apiece for the Wolves four total runs.
At the mound, Wingfield started out the game and pitched three innings, allowed seven hits, five runs, walked two batter and struck out three batters. Hopkins finished out the game and pitched four innings, allowed five hits, three runs, walked one batter and struck out one batter.
