The Prescott Lady Wolves hoped for redemption in their final home game of the 2017-18 basketball season last Tuesday night against Class 4A Ashdown Lady Panthers on senior night at the Prescott Sports Arena.

Seniors' Lacie Nolen, Haleigh Wiley, Anna Byers and Tavonica Barzar were the featured honorees on their night looking to close out basketball careers in their final performances at home for the final time competing at the Prescott Sports Arena. Unfortunately, the Lady Wolves would suffer another tough home defeat to Ashdown 45-43 for a close and competitive match-up that went down to the wire.
In first half action, the Lady Wolves kept their battle close with Ashdown as the visiting Lady Panthers took a slim one point edge over Prescott 8-7 at the conclusion of first quarter action.
In the second, the Lady Wolves and Lady Panthers matched each other in scoring with 16 points apiece by both teams. At the break, the Lady Wolves had a one point deficit to Ashdown 24-23 going into the locker room.
In the third, the Lady Wolves outscored Ashdown 13-11, but in the fourth the visiting Lady Panthers edge Prescott scoring wise 10-7. As a result, the Lady Panthers soared to victory to sweep the series match-up in the blended 3A-4A Conference showdown meeting of the season.
For the game, Lady Wolves' Nolen led scoring with a another productive scoring night pouring 21 points for double-figures with Wiley and Byers each had nine points for the Prescott "Big 3". Jai Dorrough and Olivia Williams each contributed two points apiece.
On last Friday night, the Lady Wolves continued their 3A-4A Conference series on the road to top Mena 41-36 to sweep the series meetings to improve to 16-9 overall, 8-4 in conference.
This week, the Lady Wolves finish up regular season hoops in conference play on the road against Horatio and Cossatot River before heading into district tournament competition.
