The Nevada Lady Jays are coming off key victories on the hardwood to secure themselves in the win column this season. After a few tough losses in their early season battles, the Lady Jays came out big at home defeating Hermitage 46-34 going into the Thanksgiving holiday break for their first home win of the season.
In their return to hoops following the holiday break, the Lady Jays fell in hoop action on the road at Harmony Grove in Camden 67-37, then against Poyen 66-47 in tournament competition hosted at Haskell Harmony Grove in Benton.
Following their tough losses to CHG and Poyen, the Lady Jays stepped up big and took down the Hampton Lady Bulldogs 52-33 for the their victory margin of the season last Friday night in Hampton. The Lady Jays sparked to open first quarter with the lead and held the Lady Bulldogs under double-digits. At the end of the first, Nevada led Hampton 13-8. In the second, the Lady Jays outscored Hampton 15-7. At the break, Nevada led Hampton 28-15. In the second half, the Lady Jays secured their win dropping 24 points in the hoop despite Hampton accounting 18 points total for third and fourth quarter scoring.
This week, the Lady Jays will continue road action at Strong, then return home Friday Dec. 8 hosting Lafayette County looking for back to back home wins.
