Prescott Lady Wolves took their hardwood performances on the road for two key non-conference battles in the Hot Springs Lakeside Classic falling to Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets 46-40 but defeating Jessieville Lady Lions 31-29 last week for senior high girls basketball action.

Prescott Lady Wolves took their hardwood performances on the road for two key non-conference battles in the Hot Springs Lakeside Classic falling to Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets 46-40 but defeating Jessieville Lady Lions 31-29 last week for senior high girls basketball action. As a result, the Lady Wolves improve to 4-1 overall.
This week, the Lady Wolves return to the hardwood for regular season schedule action against Texas High and on the road to face Sheridan for another match-ups for Friday night hoops Dec. 1.

HOT SPRINGS LAKESIDE CLASSIC
Game 1
PRESCOTT 40, SHERIDAN 46
Prescott Lady Wolves opened Lakeside Classic senior high girls basketball action facing the Sheridan Lady Yellowjackets. Prescott trailed early in opening quarter action with Sheridan taking a 13-8 lead to outscore the Lady Wolves. Lacie Nolen dropped six first quarter points with Jai'yana Dorrough adding a basket for Prescott. In the second quarter, the Lady Wolves scored eight points with Anna Byers draining a trifecta from behind the arc, Nolen making a pair of free-throws and Dorrough scoring from the field. Haleigh Wiley split a pair of free-throws for her scoring contributions in the second, but the Lady Yellowjackets posted eight points and led Prescott 21-16 at halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Wolves put up 10 points on the scoreboard in third quarter but trailed Sheridan 34-26 after three periods of action. In the fourth, the Lady Wolves dropped 14 points with Nolen catching on fire from downtown to swish two trey's and Byers draining one trey. Wiley added a basket from the field and split a pair of free-throws in the fourth, but the Lady Yellowjackets accounted 12 points scored to edge Prescott by six points for the Lady Wolves first loss of the season. For the game, Prescott's Nolen led scoring with 20 points, Wiley followed with eight points and Byers posted six points.

Game 2
PRESCOTT 31, JESSIEVILLE 29
For the second game in the Lakeside Classic, Prescott Lady Wolves pulled off a big and close win down to the wire against the Jessieville Lady Lions, 31-29. The Lady Wolves coasted to a big first quarter lead advantage over Jessieville 10-2 to conclude opening period play. Nolen, Wiley, Jonay Roberts and Byers each contributed scoring for the Lady Wolves in first quarter action. In the second, Nolen scored back to back baskets at the start of quarter action to give Prescott an 14-2 lead down to the 6:51 mark. Jessieville regrouped and went on a scoring spree to score 13 consecutive points and held Prescott scoreless for the final six minutes of the quarter. At the break, Jessieville held a one point lead over Prescott, 15-14.
In the third quarter, the Lady Wolves regain the momentum and outscored Jessieville 9-5. At the end of the three periods, Prescott led the Lady Lions 23-20. In the fourth, the Lady Wolves finished off the Lady Lions scoring eight points with clutch free-throw shooting by Wiley and Nolen to secure Prescott's victory over Jessieville. For the game, Nolen led scoring with 13 points for double-figures. Roberts scored six points, Wiley and Byers each had five points apiece and Dorrough contributed two points.
