The Prescott Curley Wolves golf team continues to make history in their athletic program for season 2017. PHS golfers won the boys district golf tournament on Monday Sept. 18 hosted at Glenwood Country Club. It was a close race, but Prescott came out victorious by one stroke to defeat Gurdon. Prescott finished with a winning team score of 273 and Gurdon finishing second at 274, Smackover shot 315, Junction City finished at 327 and Fordyce shot 364. Prescott's Hank Crain finished with the overall top individual score as the district tournament medalist shooting a 73. Crain has been untouchable this year in his golf performance to capture medalist honors for all but one match for season 2017. This is the second consecutive year Crain has earned medalist in the district tournament. Prescott's Tyler Doucet shot 86, Carter Neal 114 and Brody Pennington had a 121.
Prescott head golf coach Beau Brickell was very proud of how the Curley Wolves kept their consistency of hard work progressing throughout the entire season. Brickell believed his golf team could capture this honor as they've won all their matches for a historic season on the golf course in varsity competition. Prescott finishes the season perfect at 10-0. Prior to competing at the district tournament, the Curley Wolves golf team finished the regular season victorious in their final season home duel defeating De Queen and Cossatot River at the Prescott Country Club.
This season Prescott's golf team have defeated Bismarck, Centerpoint, Foreman, Lake Hamilton, De Queen, Ashdown and Spring Hill to remain unbeaten in road and home matches.
Now the Curley Wolves take their championship glory to the big stage to compete in the 2017 Class 3A state boys golf tournament scheduled Oct. 2 hosted at Mountain Ranch Golf Club in Fairfield Bay.
