The 2010 encampment at the Davidson Campground began July 30 and will end with the morning worship on Sunday, Aug. 8. The Rev. Carlton Cross, pastor of the Prescott First United Methodist Church is the evangelist with Paul Shuffield as song leader and Billie Jean Miller as pianist.
Other staff members are: Elizabeth Hill, children and intermediate; Taylor Wood, youth; Lori Calley, craft co-ordinator; Christy Rogers and Dorothy Daniel, love fest; Rev. Debbie Perry, memorial service; Travis Langley, prayer service on July 29; Blake Batson and Becky Jester, Sunday school; commissary, Dennis Rowe and Ricky Arnold.
Services are held each day at 11 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. with special events for children including story time and crafts each day. The youth have meetings each evening following the worship service.
Davidson is the largest Camp meeting in the state and some 600 guests and campers are expected over the course of the 10 days. The Tabernacle is the focal point, located in the center of the grounds with 92 wooden cabins around it. There are two trailer parks for those with RV’s and motor homes. The campground is located approximately 12 miles west of Arkadelphia on Hwy 26. Everyone is invited.
