The 2010 encampment at the Davidson Campground began July 30 and will end with the morning worship on Sunday, Aug. 8.

Henderson State University’s athletic center will soon carry the name of an alumnus and former athlete who remains a generous supporter of the university. The C.E. “Buddy” Formby Athletic Center will be officially dedicated during a ceremony on Feb. 25 from 4-5 p.m.

Keith Medley, the author of We As Freemen: Plessy vs. Ferguson will serve as keynote speaker along with Keith Plessy and Phoebe Ferguson at the commemoration of the Little Rock Nine at the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site on September 25.
The Nevada County Fair Youth Talent Contest and Community Talent Contest will be held Thursday, Sept. 17 and Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, Potlatch Building at 6 p.m. each night. The talent contest participants will perform as entertainment during the Fair Queen and King Pageants.
Information packets with entry forms may be picked up at the Nevada County Extension Office, ReDesigns or the Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.
As temperatures continue to rise seniors are at great risk. Cooling shelters are now open. Persons age 60 and up may come to the Senior Center located at 419 East Main St. in Prescott between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday-Friday, for relief from the heat.
