Julia Thompson Lester, age 91, of Arkadelphia, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. She was born Nov. 1, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Nevada Lee Thompson. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Lester; one son, Terry Lester; one brother, Robert Thompson; and two sisters, Frankie Fite and Myrtle Mays. Survivors are two sons, Mark (Lisa) Lester and Luke (Lynn) Lester, all of Arkadelphia; four daughters, Linda (Chuck) Kupelian of Shreveport, Marla (Jesse) Barber of Wheatley, Debra (Arfan) Fahoum of Maumelle, and Judy (Marion) Hughes of Dallas; one sister, Vesta Hughes of Nashville, Tenn.; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Junius Williams officiating. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery near Dalark.
