  • Mr. J.K. Davies Jr., 86 of Gurdon, passed away, Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, in Baptist Hospital in Arkadelphia.
    Mr. Davies was born May 23, 1926, in Dobyville, to Jesse Kincaid Davies Sr. and Mattie Lou White Davies. He is retired from Reynolds Aluminum as maintenance scheduling supervisor and was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon where he was very active in church activities and a member of the Friendly Men's Sunday School Class. He enjoyed fox hunting, taking care of his hounds, teaching kids to water ski and his grand-girls.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Davies and Wayne Davies; four sisters, Virginia Qualls, Francis McElhannon, Doris Davies and JoAnne Davies; and his wife's twin sister, Jean Boulden.
    Survivors include his wife of 58 years of marriage, Jo Gates Davies; his son, Don Wesley Davies and wife, Debbie of Gurdon; his sister, Mary Henson of Wynne; his two granddaughters; Heather Bruce and husband, Tommy, and Krissi Jo Childres and husband, Toby; his two great-grandchildren, Kamryn Kincaid Bruce and Thomas Elliott Bruce; and many nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon.
    Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon. The Rev. Carl Ownbey will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon.
