With the approaching General Election less than three weeks away and early voting beginning Monday, Oct. 22, Jackson County Clerk Melanie Clark is offering voters valuable information which can help them come election day.
“It is a website that is hosted by the Arkansas Secretary of States Office,” Clark explained.
“You can enter your name and date of birth and it will tell you if you are registered to vote and in which county. It also lets you know all your district information, and your polling site.”
The website can cut down on confusion as citizens go to vote while giving them ample time to study the issues.
“You are also able to view your General Election Ballot specific for your area.”
She continued, “This is a great tool for people that would like to check their voter registration status, polling site and other voter information. It is also critical in informing you of the issues on the ballot.”
Early voting is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and runs through Monday, Nov. 5 at The Village Mall.
Other changes voters will notice in this election are polling sites.
“All of Tuckerman will now vote at the Methodist Church instead of the VFW and all of Newport will be voting at The Village Mall, per the Jackson County Election Commission, in an effort to save the tax payers dollars.”
The November General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6.
